6DOF Academy — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-08-22 Last updated: 2026-09-04
6DOF Academy is a browser-based six-degrees-of-freedom spaceflight trainer owned, built, and run by Wabbit ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what we collect from pilots who create an account and play, and what you can do about it.
6DOF Academy is currently in a limited tester wave. Some things described here (like invite-only signup and telemetry defaults) apply to that phase and may change as the product matures — if they do, we'll update this page.
Who this applies to
6DOF Academy is for adults. It is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us at hello@wabbit.com and we'll remove it.
Account signup
Creating an account requires an email address and a password. During the tester wave, signup may also require an invite code issued by us. We don't verify your email address on signup right now, so double-check it's correct — it's how we'll reach you if something needs your attention.
What we collect
Account information: your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
Pilot profile: your callsign (gamertag). Your callsign is visible to other signed-in pilots — for example, on leaderboards and public pilot profile pages. Don't use anything you wouldn't want other players to see.
Flight settings and calibration: your input bindings, flight tuning preferences, and per-device calibration data (for HOTAS/HOSAS hardware) sync to your account so your setup follows you between machines.
Scores: your leaderboard entries (scenario, difficulty, score, and timestamp) are stored under your account and shown to other signed-in pilots by callsign.
Flight run traces: when telemetry is on, we record detailed per-run data: your control inputs, ship attitude and state over time, and run context (scenario, difficulty, seed, duration). This is used to improve training scenarios and scoring, and for research into flight-skill modeling. Run traces are not shown to other players. Only we (site administrators) can read this data — it's not a player-facing feature.
Telemetry consent: you control whether run traces upload at all, from Settings → Telemetry & Privacy in the game. During the tester wave, this may default to on for pilots who haven't set it themselves, so we can gather enough data to tune the training scenarios. You can turn it off at any time, and future runs won't upload once you do.
Local browser storage: the game also keeps a local copy of your profile and recent scores in your browser's storage (localStorage), separate from your account, so the game works offline-first. Clearing your browser data clears this local copy; it doesn't affect what's stored on our servers.
Payments
6DOF Academy offers optional paid tiers. Payments are processed by Stripe, not by us directly.
- What Stripe handles: when you buy a paid tier, you enter your card details on a Stripe-hosted Checkout page. Your card number, expiration, and CVC are typed directly into Stripe's page and never touch our servers — we don't see, store, or have access to your full card details at any point.
- What we store: we keep an order record (the amount charged, which product/tier, the Stripe checkout session and payment IDs, and the email address used) and the resulting entitlement (which tier your account has). This is how we know your account should have Pilot or Founder's Wing access.
- How long we keep it: order records are kept for as long as your account exists, plus whatever additional period bookkeeping and tax law require us to retain financial records after that.
- Stripe's own policy: Stripe is a payment processor in its own right and handles your payment data under its own privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy.
What we don't do
We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on 6DOF Academy. We don't use Sentry or similar error-tracking services on the player-facing game. We don't integrate with Discord.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It's functional only — there's no ad tracking or cross-site tracking cookie on this site.
Where your data lives
Our servers and database run on Hetzner infrastructure located in Germany, managed through Coolify. Your account and gameplay data is stored in a MongoDB database on that infrastructure.
Who can see your data
- Your callsign, scores, and public pilot profile: visible to other signed-in pilots.
- Your email, settings, calibration data, and run traces: visible only to you and to Wabbit administrators. Run traces in particular are admin-only — there's no player-facing view of raw telemetry.
- Stripe: if you make a purchase, Stripe processes and holds your payment details (card number, billing information) as our payment processor. See Payments above and Stripe's privacy policy.
- We don't sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. Flight run traces are retained for up to 12 months from the date they're captured, or sooner on request, after which we delete them, unless you delete your account sooner. If you delete your account, everything tied to it is removed immediately (see below).
Your rights
You can:
- Request a copy of your account data. We can provide your account and profile records on request.
- Delete your account. From your account settings, you can permanently delete your account. This removes your login credentials, profile, settings and calibration data, score history, and flight run traces. This action cannot be undone.
- Turn off telemetry at any time from Settings → Telemetry & Privacy, without deleting your account.
- Reset your password by contacting us at hello@wabbit.com. Self-serve password reset by email isn't available yet during the tester wave.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wabbit.com or use the tools in your account settings where available.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be called out to active pilots.
